Or is it luffa?

However you spell it, it’s that long scratchy thing you use in the bath. It’s not a sea sponge or a nasty plastic thing. It’s a sort of naked cucumber….. Read the rest of this entry »

Spring!

April 6th, 2010 Sarah Posted in Garden No Comments »

It’s sunny, the sky is blue and it feels warm…. I reckon it might be Spring. This is backed up by the buds opening on my blackcurrant bushes, the daffodils opening slowly round the garden and generally things starting to grow again. Read the rest of this entry »

Clearing up in the garden.

September 2nd, 2009 Sarah Posted in Business News, Garden No Comments »

Time to make a fresh batch of comfrey based plant food to see us over the winter. So, cleaned out the bucket and used the sludge in the bottom, diluted, to feed the pumpkins. If a little windy.
We’ve been in and out of the house and garden – tidying up a bit indoors and weeding, planting and sowing outside.

Comfrey tea

June 14th, 2009 Sarah Posted in Environment, Garden 2 Comments »

No, not for you, or me, it’s for the garden. I grow my own comfrey and have 2 clumps now, accidentally as I meant to move it and obviously left a bit of root in the old spot. Ooops.

What shall we do with Red?

June 3rd, 2009 Sarah Posted in Garden, Home No Comments »

As you know by now we have 3 rescued ex battery hens living in our back garden. They’ve been lovely to have and we’ve had regular eggs from them.

It’s Spring Bank Holiday weekend coming up and the weather forecast is for a mixture of sun, showers and warm and cooler. What a start to what will be half term for most of us. I hope it stays dry, I want to get out in my garden.
